FREE Lunch and Learn Series Begins with the DCAA Auditing Process

*** This lunch and learn has been rescheduled due to inclement weather.  The dates have been revised in the post, but please note that the change has moved from February 24 to March 26th.

Join us March 26, 2015 for our first class in a series of educational workshops at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce. The Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce hosts a variety of classes each month for small businesses. March’s free classes also include topics on how to do business with the government, women-owned small business certification in government contracting, and the basics of starting a small business. In our first class, Laura Davis (President of Strategic Consulting Solutions) will focus on taking a closer look at the DCAA auditing process and how you can prepare yourself for an audit.

The Defense Contract Audit Agency’s (DCAA) primary customer is the public’s interest, but they also perform all necessary contract audits for the Department of Defense (DoD), as well as accounting and financial advisory services regarding contracts and subcontracts to all DoD components responsible for procurement and contract administration. Audits can consist of pre-award, post-award and business system audits.

Hosted in conjunction with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) and UT Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), this free workshop will explore the different types of audits and provide insight as to what triggers an audit, what the agency is looking for, the kind of records you should be keeping, and how the procedure typically unfolds. At Strategic Consulting Solutions, our mission is to help you stay ahead of auditors and to make sure your company is ready for an audit. We understand that working with – and staying compliant with – the Federal Government can be overwhelming. That’s why we are honored to help educate our neighbors, community, and business owners on the complexities of federal accounting and compliance. The Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce Lunch and Learn series is one way that we are able to help our community of builders, makers, and thinkers achieve more potential as government contractors.

Along with the seminar, attendees are welcome to come early to network with others, settle in, and get situated with their lunch. This is a basic program level event, so no advance preparation is required. Just bring a lunch, something to take notes on, and an eagerness to learn how to prepare yourself, should the DCAA choose to audit you.
